Lay It Down

Happy MONDAY! Glory be to God another week, another day, every day is sweeter than the day before. A new day means a new heart so leave your past in the past and allow God to seep in so you can lay down your life.

Jesus does not ask us to die for Him, but to lay down our lives for Him. Peter said to the Lord, “I will lay down my life for Your sake,” and he meant it (John 13:37). For thirty-three years Jesus laid down His life to do the will of His Father. “By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren” (1 John 3:16). Yet it is contrary to our human nature to do so. I urge you to remember we are not natural beings rather spiritual.

If we are friends of Jesus we must deliberately and carefully lay down our life for Him. It is a difficult thing to do, and thank God that it is because we exercise our faith in it. Salvation is easy for us, because it cost God so much. But the exhibiting of salvation in life is difficult. After all, Jesus says to us, “… I have called you friends…” Remain faithful to your Friend, and remember that His honor is at stake in your bodily life. WOW. Not just the words we speak but the way we move and carry ourselves in a literal lying down of our flesh.

This week’s Music Monday is Lay It Down by Troy Sneed

Lyrics:

(Chorus)

All of your problems, all of your pain, lay it down, lay it down.

All of your heartache, all guilt and shame, lay it down, lay it down.

Cast your cares upon him, he’ll hear your call, lay it down, lay it down.

Promise he will never leave you, Non forsaken friend indeed, lay it down,

Lay it down.

  1. Love this! I’m reminded that though Jesus did the ultimate sacrifice for me, I’m also required to do my part and sacrifice my life, body, and spirit in surrendance to His control!
