Today is the day the Lord has made so let us come and worship Him. Here comes another does of Music Monday!
“So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.” Galatians 4:7
Bethel Music’s song “No Longer Slaves” begins by beautifully expressing to God, “You unravel me, with a melody. You surround me with a song.” When we walk in our freedom in allowing the Holy Spirit into our praise, we allow Him to unravel us and put us back together again.
This song is an anthem of freedom from fear in proclaiming “I’m no longer a slave to fear. I am a child of God.”
After all, fear enslaves you. Perhaps it is fear of not being enough. Maybe it’s fear of the future, past or of failure. Maybe you fear the opinion of others or the fear of looking silly in your worship. Regardless of the fear it enslaves you. No matter what, God promises to rescue us. In Isaiah He says “For I am the Lord, your God, who grasp your right hand; it is I who say to you, do not fear, I will help you.” Jesus tells u s that we are children of God. As children let us marvel at our Father. Let us worship like free people.
Let us not grow weary of praying and seeking God’s face. Like any relationship we must keep at it, one long conversation isn’t good enough. We must make a deliberate effort to build the relationship in seeking and seeking and seeking and seeking… wait did I say seeking?
This Monday has got to be the best Monday EVER! I will be taking part in a large worship night here in Toronto by one of the best teams out there: Bethel Music and featured artists. To all be gathered together worshiping our one truth God is a humbling experience. This reminds us that we are not alone in our walk, and that there are more people for us than against us. The arms of our Father and songs of deliverance surround us for we have been liberated from our bondage; we are the sons and daughters so let us sing our FREEDOM. We are no longer slaves, spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally… God has set us free, let’s stop living as those we are held in bondage and lift our hands move our feet open our mouths; we have been rescued so let us remember we are children of the most high.
There’s more to worship however than singing, for this reason I do not simply post a new song for encouragement on Monday’s, rather I support them with God’s holy Word. For I believe my role as a worship leader carries a tough responsibility, one that requires my heart to be in a place of worship before Sunday morning. Yet just like everyone else, I deal with pain, bills, and emotional needs. But my worship doesn’t just start and end with a song.
Day by day, I look for opportunities to point out the hand of God whether it be in a glorious sunset, a piercing moon or the soar of a bird. This is because worship is much more than 20 minutes of singing at a church service. Worship is looking to the beauty of the world and recognizing God, worship is the deeper understanding of God, worship is the combination of “worth” and “ship,” meaning to proclaim or display the great value of someone. We need to look to something deeper than singing on a Sunday morning service. We need to make worship a relationship encompasses song, the Word, appreciation, etc.
This week’s song is No Longer Slaves by Bethel Music
P.S I’ll let you all know how Bethel Music Worship Night goes 🙂
